I was able to solder the sensor to the board correctly. Wow that was bit nerve racking because of how small it was.  The sensor is about 1.5 mm when I hold against the spacer. I might sand a bit of the spacer to get a bit closer as shown in pic. Also is it ok to super glue the CG board to the spacer?  The directions only talk about gluing the spacers to the side of motor and nothing about attaching board to spacers.

It looks like there's something under the spacer around the motor that's causing you to have the excessive gap.  I can tell you for sure, that won't work, the sensing distance of the sensor is between about .8mm to around 1.2mm at the most.  I will also say that the sensor installation is the trickiest part of the install.  If I could have figured out an easier way, I would have.

If you look at the directions for motors that are larger than the flywheel, you'll see what I do for those.  Note the sensor is extended from the board to achieve the correct spacing.  Typically, I recommend you keep the spacing between .8mm and 1.0mm for best results.

John, on my one install.everything worked as it was suppose to with the sensor and spacer just taped to the motor. When I glued everything up. The dimension changed I’m guessing with just the thickness of the glue. It is that precise. I was a able to fix it. Are you better off gluing everything in place. Then soldering the sensor in last to get the exact spacing. I used to be good at adjusting automotive points back in the day. This is sure a lot trickier to do.

If the flywheel close to the diameter of the motor, it usually works out that you need to shim the C-G out and you can just solder the sensor flush to the board.  However, if the motor is significantly larger than the flywheel, then I glue the board in place with the sensor just stuck in the holes, and solder it in place after adjusting the spacing.

I usually glue the curved shim in place first, then hold the C-G on it and measure the gap to determine which way to go.

Yes my install has a plastic housing which made the spacing a bit more than I wanted when soldering the sensor to the board. I should be able to sand down the spacer a half of mm or so to get the .8 to 1mm spacing I need. Then I can super glue the board to the spacer since you said it’s ok to glue. Figured I was right in the neighborhood of spacing, so I just attached sensor to board instead of trying to get so precise of soldering the sensor to the board which was more difficult enough for me to get it mounted flush.  I think I can get it I work.
