Need some quick help. I need to install Kadees on a 3rd Rail CBQ NE7 Way Car. Since it doesn't have mounting holes. What have you guys have done to secure the mounting pad to the car?
Thanks

I just went upstairs and looked at how I mounted the Kadees on mine. As best as I can remember, I made the appropriate thickness shim, then screwed the Kadee gearbox assembly to the shim using the center mounting hole on the Kadee gearbox. I then used J-B KWIK (since it is black) to attach the whole assembly to the underside of each end of the Waycar.
Thanks HW. I was hoping you saw this. Pretty much have coupler and shims ready to go. I have JB Weld but will pick up a tube of JB Kwik on the way back from picking up my kids from school. All I have to say the three year wait was well worth it and just in time for the 3rd rail SD9s I have on order.

sweet cab! Kwik will work perfect for that, done the same to a couple Lionel cabs.

Thanks, As we speak it currently running behind my 3rd Rail FTs. Almost didn't want to put it into service on the layout, like I said above well worth the three yr wait.. Have a project reconfiguring a K Line wood Cab that will now become an CB&Q/C&S Way Car instead. You just answered the next conversion for me. 3 Lionel CB&Qs way cars

I have a K-Line caboose that was converted to a CB&Q Waycar, by changing out the trucks to a more prototypical CB&Q Waycar truck (I seem to remember that my buddy was using some sort of 'old time' passenger car trucks, which work great for the CB&Q Waycar).

I'm not aware that Lionel ever made any correct CB&Q Waycar models, as the "special" CB&Q truck is the dead give-a-way.

.
HW They don't . 1st Lionel is an extended vision but has the wrong cupola. and windows in the wrong place
2nd is MTH Extended vision Defiantly wrong trucks side window in the wrong place
At least the correct roller bearing trucks should be here tomorrow in the mail.
Last is a Lionel wood caboose kitbashed into a CB&Q 14570, NE-4, 3-Window Woodside, Steel cupola Caboose,
Atlas trucks were temp fix. Plan on using CA-1 truck or now per your suggestion old time passenger car trucks. I think I know what he used.
Well, I didn't think the Burlington had any "wide vision" cabooses. It doesn't matter though, since I model in the early to mid 1950s, and I know the Burlington didn't have any like that then.
