Insulate handrails on CC 726 Berkshire

Clear plastic tubing?  You could also just paint the contact point with Liquid Tape.

After your posting I checked my CC 726 (6-18053) and found this:

You'll notice that there's a piece of plastic tubing on the right handrail (engineer's side) but none on the left.  That's the way it came to me.

It looks like we both need to find a few extra pieces.

Maybe some small clear shrink wrap tubing would do, say 3/32"?

Never knew the wrap was insulation for TMCC controllers.  I had picked up the CC 726 Berk and the CC 773 Hudson a while ago, they are beauties and I only run them with traditional ZW's.  Thanks for the knowledge.  Are TMCC controllers still available, or has technology left them in the dust along with the rest of my predominantly postwar/prewar collection?

Cab 1 (the original TMCC) and Cab1L controllers are still available either as new old stock from some dealers and used.  Legacy (Cab2) will also control any TMCC locomotive.

I agree wholeheartedly.  I was pleasantly surprised by the 726 after I picked it up at a hobby shop in Phoenix on a business trip about 5 or 6 years ago.  It has the prettiest whistle I've heard in any command control loco, whether Lionel or MTH, Legacy or PS2 or 3.

Even better, although it doesn't have Legacy I would swear that mine does, based on the fact that I can approximate the quillable whistle of a much newer and more expensive model, purely based on playing with the timing of whistle button pushes.  Very, very nicely done for an early TMCC model.

Thanks guys.  My loco looks just like the photo posted by Mellow Hudson Mike.  What I found is that I need something on both sides of the boiler.  I looked for small transparent tubing similar to that on the right side but have not found anything so small.  I did not realize there was something called liquid tape.  Yesterday evening I found clear liquid insulation on Amazon and ordered a small bottle.

I agree with the comments re: the loco itself.  A truly great reproduction of the original.  TMCC is awesome complete with quilling whistle.  Love it.
