Hello, all

Today, I have not yet found the best way to create the signal target for my cantilever bridge. So I wait and think! but as I can't stay without tools and styrene in my hands, I'm working on a well car and 40' container. Some drawings and photos are better than a boring explanation! just drawings for the well car but the first container is on a good way.

---->KATY409: I can help you, but is it for the drawings or for the way I toke for building the well car. Today I have only 3D drawings which help me to do 2D drawings and trucks I received last week; then I could fit the height of the car and the couplers on the 2D drawings; but tell me what you want to know exactly and I will try to answer with my imperfect english!!!

See you soon

OK, I understand and I hope the following drawings will help you (sorry, they are in french and millimeters!); first, the 3D drawing: the sam as at the beginning of this thread, but "broken" (I don't know how to say!) with the main dimensions; the software don't allow me to make dotted lines to show yo where the pieces are connected; the second one is a 2D drawing showing the half of the well car; it's the final drawing after the re-sizing with the trucks and the choice of the different styrene strips; it's a whole drawing, the details are not yet done (little lines without notes). If you want more particular explanations, you can mail me, no problem!

Hope that helps40' Well car éclaté

Thanks, Eric

----> Martin H: very beautiful well cars! where have you found the walkways? I'm looking for morton patterns walkways (like the real ones) but I don't find something interesting in O scale!

----> KATY409: I use 0,5 mm styrene for the bottom piece with reinforcments, 1 mm styrene for the sides and 2 mm styrene for the end platforms. I use cyano glue for all my work with styrene. I will install MTH 2 rails trucks under my well car like MartinH.

Thanks, Alan,

I will try to bring you something interesting to share from the other side of the pond!!!

But I will need some more specific information about the end platform, because I don't manage to find a photo from above to see how all the parts are placed (brake cylinder, walkways, etc...) . Thanks in advance if somebody has what I want...

Thanks Martin H,

I had prefered to build my own containers. I find those from ATLAS and MTH too expensive because I live in France and I have to pay extra for shipping in my country; so, the whole price is above the one I have when I build with my hands. And the difference is significant! more, I enjoy to work with sheets and strips of styrene, so I'm happy!

The picture you put on the forum is exactly my prototype well car! it will have to look like it!!! the first one will be numbered 53029.

I found my model on "TRAINIAX" website; thanks to him!

See you later for updates.
