Nice Steve
Here's one of mine--
Hi Jeff,
Your train looks wonderful. I know you're a Kadee man and wanted to first ask what brand of stacks are these? Did you change the trucks or just the couplers on them? If so what trucks did you use and also what is the Kadee number you used?
Thanks,
Dave
Jeff
Really Nice I love the diversity in your containers, realistic..
Dave, the first several cars are Atlas O Gunderson Maxi-IV, loaded with Atlas O 53' containers. The last several sets of stacks are custom built MTH 5-car articulated Gunderson stack sets, loaded with Atlas O 20' and 40' containers, with some 53's on top. All have Atlas O 2 rail trucks, Kadee 740 couplers.
Thanks also Dave and Steve for the comments!
Jeff thanks for the info. My MTH stacks are nudging(too high) my tunnel portals but my Lionel stacks do not. I had the tunnel portals first and don't really want to go back and dig them all out. Thought it might be an opportunity to modify the stacks.
I ran this one at the Open House last month. Each MTH 5-unit Gunderson Twin Stack car is a transition car (I haven't switched out the wheels yet) with a Kadee on one end and the hi-rail coupler on the other. This allows me to add unconverted hi-rail cars and my 89-foot trailer flats to the mix. Open House rules limit train length so I couldn't do it this time. The train is being pulled by a pair of scale-wheeled MTH CNW C40-8 "Narrow Nose" units.

Thanks. It took the two builders about 18 months to finish and has over 1500 nut-bolt-washer castings installed. The curve is 48" radius (O-96). Took about another year to finish off the area behind it. The towers behind are for a modern trestle and use steel angle stock in the construction. The cross members are Plastruct. We will eventually get around to ballasting the deck.
Very nice Steve

I have a video, but the file is over 100MB.
Here are photos of Santa Fe, Southern Pacific, Rio Grande, Great Northern, Burlington Northern, SOUTHERN, Preferred Pool, and Chicago Central & Pacific intermodal equipment.

What is the overall length of those cars?
The Atlas O scale 89' flat cars are about 22-1/2" long.
