Every now and then I pick up a flyer or see an ad for an auction site for trains,

but when I open it, I don't find much listed...unlike THE auction site where I do

not like their mandated payment method, and stopped selling.  I just did that

again tonight, and wonder if anybody has had much luck, buying or selling,

with other general, or specific (hobby or trains), auction sites?

I have used the Choo Choo auctions website, www.choochooauctions.com, for a few purchases. Nice website if you know something about the items you want to purchase, way better than ebay! I bought some rather nice Williams items on Choo Choo auctions at very good prices.

Another site is Trainz.com. I don't know anything about this one other than their name.

From personal experiance stay away from ebay!! People want too much for an item and they don't know how to list their stuff on ebay. I bought what was supposed to be an H.O. scale caboose and turned oput to be an O gauge caboose, since I do a little in H.O. but mainly O gauge I wasn't that upset, thought I got a bargain after all.

Thanks, guys....choochooauctions is the one that I just saw an ad for and opened up..

but that is the one where I did not, last night, see much listed.  As for people not

knowing what they have on eBay, those that do are often the ones with the above

market reserves, while the out of attic citizen may not know exactly what he has, but

isn't out to retire to Provence on the sale (of course, some of those, too, as I am sure you have noticed, err on the side of fantasy).  Those attics are your fresh sources, and I do sometimes have to ask questions, and have once gotten in an HO kit (returned) that had been misidentified as "O". (too bad those itty bitty and teeny weeny trains are cluttering up our marketplace ) The buyers, in an auction, control the price; much with high reserves goes unsold..but some listings, due to demand, bring high prices.  Trainz, of course, sets up at York in the Orange Hall, often has had

good deals in their auctions on eBay, and, has, finally, offered a payment method different than the imposed one. (I got into a hassle with them over that and

had a payment returned, and did not receive the item). Problem appears solved.  However, I am not aware that they operate their own internet auction site?
