No, but there is a 3V set that uses the 5v connectors. You need some other parts as well (speaker, etc...).
Boliermaker1,
I don't believe so. That's the main reason I've stayed away from 5v Ps2 engines that were NIB.

A year ago, I had a 5V engine go bad and needed to get the boards replaced. The only solution was to gut it and replace everything with a 3V system, almost as though it was an upgrade from a non-conventional engine to PS2.

Walt, Wasn't that a small switcher and the issue was new speaker size? For most engines installing the new PS-2 3V with 5V connectors only requires replacing the speaker, battery and charging harness. The reset all stays. If you go with the 3V BCR you don't need the battery or charge harness. G

Why don't you need the charge harness, you still have to treat the BCR as a battery, right? Are you talking about the charging port on the bottom of the tender?

John, I'm almost sure G is referring to the charging port & harness. One less item to install. BCR's are great!
I figured that after I posted. I just bought the parts to make four BCR clones, total cost was $45 shipped for the parts. So, I get them for about 1/2 the cost of the BCR. I put two together, they work just like the BCR that I have.
Yes the harness. I would take the residual 5V battery plug/harness and cut off the charge port portion. Splice the 2 pin that plugs into the board directly onto the BCR. Size it to fit the engine. Done. G
Works for me, I have several 5V models with no charging jack, makes cutting them off even easier.

GGG: you have a SUPER memory! The speaker was merely fallout from having to replace everything - the one that came with the 3V system wouldn't fit in the switcher's opening.

I had to do a switcher like that, and I used the PS-1 8 ohm speaker. Between the 16 and 4. The volume is a little lower, but acceptable. It is an alternative to radical surgery:-) Unfortunately I figured it out, after your event, otherwise I would have mentioned it as an alternative. G
