I've encountered a problem with Lionel's Fastrack Crossing Gate 6-12062 only raising about 45 degrees when fully operned instead of a more prototypical 90 degrees. Do they all function like this or is something wrong with the gates on my unit? If they're all like this I find it puzzling and disappointing why Lionel would make a $160 accessory that doesn't work to approximate its real life counterpart. If this is how the unit works, has anyone found a way to modify and make the gates fully lift to 90 degrees upright?

My 1950s crossing gate and 1970s crossing gate start out at about 80 degrees to the horizontal, go to full level horizontal then raise back to 80 degrees after the train passes.  This is on insulated tubular track at about 15 volts.  A little graphite on the plunger assembly and the cross axle works wonders.  I am also experimenting with a new lube called Dupont Dry Lubricant mentioned in a recent OGR.  It is a liquid and is working on keeping couplers shut.
