IT's TEAM TRACK TUESDAY!!  Happy new year to everyone!

When you get a chance, post your railroad's team track photos here!  If you miss posting on Tuesday, no worries!  Just go ahead and post your photos any day of the week.

This week on the Free State Junction Railway .... It's December 3,  1952 and the Patsburg Fire Dept. has just received a brand new Seagrave tiller ladder truck.  The truck was ordered almost a year ago by the PFD.  Seagrave, not one to go back on its word, promised to have the new truck delivered by the end of the year   So here it sits on team track one in Lower Patsburg delivered by December 31, 1952.   After servicing the local steel plant where several gons of scrap will be set out, the switch engine will return to the team track to push the loaded flat car further back on the team track so ramps can be installed and the new truck can be driven off the flat car.  The freight's conductor, Mr. Williams ( a volunteer fireman himself ), didn't want to risk taking the new fire truck up the line to the steel plant, due to tight clearances.  As the switch crew is running behind schedule,  he thought it best to quickly drop the car at the team track and circle back latter, to pull out a loaded car and  for the final push back of the flat car.   This move will complete the switch crew's set out/pick up work for today. After the push back, they will return to the yard, sign out, and head to Sully's Tavern for a nice cold brew before heading home for dinner and celebrating the new year with family and friends .... and perhaps watching the ball drop in Times Square now that it's televised!

Meanwhile, Chief Garrison and his assistant, returning from an emergency call, could not resist stopping at the team track to give their newest piece of equipment the once over.  They are quite excited!   An unloading crew member has already been at work unfastening chains and removing wheel chocks.

Lets see what's happening on your railroad's team track!  I wish everyone a very happy, healthy, and IMG_8728IMG_8725IMG_8734IMG_8728prosperous new year!!

MTHPRRGURU -  Glad you liked the story and the ladder truck!   I bought the truck back in 2006 or 7 at a bus station gift shop in Baltimore.  It's made by Corgi as part of a set ... being this ladder tiller truck and a Seagrave pumper, with covered hose bed, both bearing the insignia and lettering for the Detroit Fire Department.  I've not seen this set often but then again I've not been searching for it either.  Creating various vignettes for the tiller, I rotate it in and out of  my layout from time to time.

As a very young kid, I lived directly across the street from the volunteer fire dept.  As a result I cultivated a keen interest in fire apparatus and deep respect for fire fighters from a very young age.  My layout incorporates two fire houses with Seagrave, American La France,  and Mack apparatus.  I've been lucky enough to score two pumpers from departments that are close to my hometown.  I have an open cab Seagrave bearing the Kensington Maryland VFD insignia and a Mack B closed cab pumper bearing Elkridge, Maryland VFD insignia.  I would see both of these pieces ( as they were at the time front line apparatus )  in fireman's parades when I was a kid.  Pretty cool!

Please show us pics of your layout at your fire house!  Would love to see it!  Wishing you the best for a wonderful and safe new year!
