Picked up this little Ives clockwork outfit today. I think it is set #3 from the 1917-27 timeframe.

The loco is a #6 with 1917 stamped on the motor frame. The coaches are the orangish ones with buff colored roofs. Runs pretty well, but only gets about 3 laps on my 034 loop.

That is one neat set! Your comments about three laps around the track reminded me of when we built our club layout in Orwigsburg, the first train to run on it was a Hafner freight windup, it made about 2 1/4 laps on a 16' by 32 ' layout, mostly due to a minimum 72 inch curves. Even my Marx windup only went 1 1/2 laps. The next several weeks we wired the layout, I spend three Tuesday nights on my back soldering and splicing.When we ran the layout for the public, one track had the center wire and ground reversed, resulting in a short circuit. After another night on the creeper, everything was hunky-dory.
