SkyHookDepot--  Hope you life never takes a bad turn.  We are talking trains. Go buy them someplace else. There are many many places in this world that you can get what you want.  Some of us do know and I know I would not want this plate on my table.

Again it is toy trains a hobby that you are to enjoy not to Bash a guy.

Good Luck Jason From your Friends on the Forum.

My question is this. Did you pay a deposit? If not, don't worry about it. I'm quite sure he has more on his plate than most of us could stand. Let it go, it's best to avoid any confrontation.

How do you know how much or how little he "has on his plate" any more than I know or any one else around here knows. As I predicted early on in this ridiculous saga, this guy was going the way of AM Hobbies On Line. Same MO. Don't take any customer calls, Stonewall whenever you can, put out as many misleading statements through third parties as possible and finally intimate some tragedy to bring out all the bleeding hearts on the forums. What a bunch of ****.

JMHO, as usual.

I placed an order for in-stock items on Feb 21, and there has been no action or response to either phone calls or emails since then.  "Open" hours have been posted, but no response then either.  When I saw the "store closing" post on the website, I sent both an email and regular mail indicating that he should cancel my order and not charge my card, and I've been watching my card as well.  Fortunately, I'm not one of those who has a deposit at risk.

I know many in this forum have met Jason and think him a nice guy, and have had good business experience with him in the past.  I'm sorry for him for whatever caused him to close his business - no one deserves that luck in this day and age.

However, being a nice guy does not excuse bad business practices in this case.  While he attends to whatever has happened to him, he needs to post on his website or communicate directly to standing customers how he intends to close out with them, especially for those from whom he took money.  Failing to answer the phone or return emails for an extended time will only foster speculation and bad feelings from those feeling jilted.

If anyone lives near his shop or has an alternate phone number, perhaps they could get better information?

Kind of reminds me of the way some people were bashing Marty when Ma & Pa shut down.

"Oh poor me, I'm getting the run around or no answers from someone whos business is going under. This is unacceptable to me because I want my toy and I want it now and I have an overinflated sense of my own importance!
I don't care about them loosing everything I just want my toy and they are making things difficult for me! I should go and confront them, they're full of ****, you're a bleeding heart if you sympathize with him and don't back me up because you're all in cahoots with him and his supposed problems, blah, blah, blah, waaa, waaa, waaa..."

The guys business is going under and you think his big concern is you? He'll get to you eventually, he can't call everyone first someone is going to have to wait his turn.

It's a hobby for crying out loud and if it gets you that wound up maybe you need to reevaluate things. Is he handling this the right way? Probably not he does need to at least post on his site what is going on.

But then again what do I know? I'm just a bleeding heart, enabling 3rd partier.

Calm down, Jerry...your medication is in the mail.

Kind of reminds me of the way some people were bashing Marty when Ma & Pa shut down.>>>>

He was another piece of work..he'd charge your credit card the second u ordered but  took forever to mail the item... Always an excuse "i'm trying".  " I"m not feeling good".  As much as these excuses hindered delivery they didn't slow him from charging your card

i know i shouldn't respond to this but i have read this and the other thread on jason's why not give it a rest. if you ever lost a job whether your own fault or someone elses or got fired was it a great moment in your life. i'm sure jason isn't out celebrating his business' demise and im sure if he is reading some of these comments it surely can't make him feel great. someone wants to confront him someone else poor business plan and more stupid comments REALLY this is a hobby and you should enjoy it and your fellow hobbyist not go insane and ballistic about it grow up already. and one more comment cheapest price on 1/43 car&trucks big boys track yet when someone sells cheap and then goes out he's a poor business man. WHEN YOU HAVE YOUR MONEY AS A BUSINESS OWNER ON THE LINE AND YOU DEAL WITH SUPPLIERS WHO RETAIL CHEAPER THAN YOU GET WHOLESALE AND YOU HAVE TO DEAL WITH THE GENIUSES AT THE CITY STATE AND FEDERAL LEVEL YOU'LL SEE THE JOYS OF BEING A BUSINESS OWNER. I KNOW I HAVE BEEN SELF EMPLOYED FOR THE PAST 38 YEARS IF ANY OF YOU THINK ITS ALL FUN AND GAMES AND EASY... OPEN YOUR OWN BUSINESS AND GET SOME OF THE PLEASURE YOURSELF. THEN MAYBE YOU'LL THINK BEFORE YOU POST GIVE IT A REST.  AND MAYBE SOME PEOPLE CLOSE THEIR BUSINESS BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT TO DEAL WITH THE COMMENTS ON HERE. DO YOU THINK WE ALL LOST BECAUSE JASON CLOSED???

What in the world are you talking about? If, as you state you are a businessman whose suppliers can sell cheaper that you can buy from them wholesale, then you are indeed a schmendrick. Henry Ford wasn't that stupid in his worst day.

really skyhook obviously you haven't been in business or don't pay attention to reality. first off you don't stay in business for 38 years and be stupid no one is that lucky 2nd when a oil company sells bulk oil they set a price when say advance auto put an oil change special 5 quarts plus free oil filter it usually is lower that a quick lube pays for that same 5 quarts. then on top of that sometimes companies like pennzoil offer free hats etc that  are not available to the quick lubes that as well lowers the price to the retail customer. maybe if i put that in your choo choo mind if a dealer buys a $1000 item for say $700. and then the manufacturer blows out the same item on their website to say $500. the dealer can do what when their customers go flocking to that deal. and in the 70's when i ran the 3rd largest motorcraft warehouse in the US and ford lowered some prices they told us that the prices that they raised balanced out what we lost. it happens in business all the time.  as a footnote i can't buy the oil and filters from advance because of my contract with pennzoil  plus advance has a limit on the quantity that could be purchased. think about it how many manufacturers and wholesalers have websites that they sell direct to the consumer at a discount lower than what a dealer sells at.

Sad news... I wish Jason well in his future endeavors.

Quite often closing a business is not simple and easily wrapped up with a bow.  The pre-orders situation is likely one area that is not fully known or finalized due to the complexity of the supplier-dealer business agreement.  If the pre-orders are to be fullfilled by the supplier (MTH/Lionel etc) I would "guess" that they would be handled by another mfr. approved dealer who could continue the mfr./dealer/customer relationship.

Jason, best wishes and keep your head up.
