Such a steal Lew !!! Glad to see they arrived safe and sound ...
I haven't bought from Vectis direct ( yet) as I have a mate in the UK close by who deals with then , but he has a lot on his plate lately , so I have been good at not abusing him
How did you find Vectis's handling and postage charges ? reasonable?
Regardless two VERY nice items for the House of Lew
Shipping costs were higher than expected. Weight of package was 2.25 KG yet cost 65 pounds from UK to Boston, MA. Had I split the shipment into 2 small packets the cost would have been 30 pounds each!! Hear rumors that Parcel Force will charge a minimum of 96 pounds for shipment over the small packet rate. If so, that will critically injure the international market for cheapo stuff. Lew
Shipping from the UK has skyrocketed in the last year, no matter who they ship with. Just part of the costs if you want enjoy UK/Europen tinplate trains. Nice buy Lew! I to have been going a bit "hog wild" with some Euro tinplate buying a Moskabel Russian set that was about 90% complete, a couple Bassett Lowke items and a set of Jep passenger cars. AD

Shipping items can also be expensive from America to the UK as well. It has curtailed much of my purchases for some years now. It became worse when they went from sending stuff in a container to air freighting it. I personally can wait six weeks for goods to be shipped. In some cases air freight can be seven days, sounds good but not essential.
From the US to the UK gets hit with all the taxes and import duties on the UK end of things. Makes it hard to get a good deal after all those fees are paid. Everything is getting much more expensive these days. AD
When ordering goods from the UK i have found that DHL has the most reasonable shipping charges, and specify the seller ship via DHL.
Lewrail, I just noticed you are in the Boston area. The wife and I are in West Roxbury. We are always trying to meet fellow trainiacs in the area. Drop me an e-mail sometime if you wish. E-mail is directly below.
thanks

Hello Choochoo - what's your real name ? I'm also one of your near neighbors - Belmont, not too far from Lew.
Are you coming to the NETCA meet on the 12th ? If you do say hello - I'm running the registration table. One of your near neighbors from Dorchester is signed up for a table.
On the TCA membership list, I see four West Roxbury addresses. Are you one of us ?
Maybe we could have an inside 128 luncheon meet.
