Lionel got the GP 38-2, FA-2 AB and the RS-3 molds. They might of got the RS-11 too, from the video at the toy train museum.
Who got the 53 foot trailer molds?

Atlas got all of the molds in china.
Who got the molds for the wood chip hoppers?
I am glad to know someone got Weaver RS3 ALCO locomotive molds.I always thought they were the most correct.
As far as I know bowser holds ownership of the roadrailer molds. They worked out a deal with Weaver models to run and sell them the last two runs. Idk if bowser sold those molds to Lionel or not. It is unclear St this time.
I really doubt that Lionel got the rs11 mold from weaver because lionel already have theirs. Why would they need another?

Bowser recently advertised their remaining stock of the 53' trailers/roadrailers at very low clear out prices, if you were on their Email list you would have received this offer, they still may have some stock.
The O Scale, finer detailed RS-3 would be an improvement over the O gauge RS-3 that Lionel has for the traditional line.
Weaver Models never produced the FA-2, RS-3, and GP38-2 in the various paint schemes of The Soo Line Railroad. The people at Lionel can finally offer them in paint schemes for the Soo Line.

The RoadRailers were the 53' Trailers without the rail attachments. Bowser might still have them, or Lionel has them. It will be a surprise for the coming year.

In the video clip posted previously at the TCA Museum open house the Lionel rep was not sure but thought they had acquired the RS 11 tooling from Weaver, just saying !

Bowser sold these as both standard 53' trailers and as roadrailer setups with trucks, there are several noticeable differences between trailers, I have examples of both and prefer the standard 53' trailer as I am not into roadrailers, just saying!

Weaver has the tooling for the wood chip hoppers, as well as the remaining mod kits to convert the two bay hoppers to wood chip cars.

If they have the ALCo RS-11 then they might be able to finally make all variations on the paint schemes applied to the fleet of RS-11s shared between the Central Vermont and Duluth, Winnipeg & Pacific.

So some of the tooling was not picked up. I second the wish for the two bay wood chip hoppers. Too bad no one wanted or got the tooling for the die cast trucks. I hope Lionel's offering will look as good as Weavers did as I would like to swap out my plastic for die cast...........Paul

So even though Weaver went out of business they still have the molds for the wood chip hoppers?
I t would be nice if Lionel does the wood chip cars again. It won't be for quite some time though. I still have a box of wood chip loads that I had ready for Joe, but then the news of the closing came, and now they sit in my shop. Another forum I'm a member of has to wait until 2018 for our double door NKP box car that we had planned.

I am still in search of finding all 6 road numbers for the Western Maryland road name but not sure who or where to reach out too.
Does anyone know where I can get either the wood chip hopper conversion to use on a regular Weaver 2 bay hopper or where to locate surplus of the wood chip hoppers?

Weaver did this one, and the B unit. I would definitely be interested in anything Soo Line.
That Soo Line FA-2 and the FB-2 must be very rare. I have not been able to find them.
Andrew
The people at Lionel got the Made in the USA diesel locomotives, but it might be 1 to 2 years before we see them.

Two questions. First who got the flat cars with trailers and second question what tooling was not bought by either Atlas or Lionel....................Paul

Lionel if they bought the flatcar tooling, the trailers were made overseas if I remember correctly.
atlas got all of the tooling in china.
Rich Trowbridge has not made a comment. Rich posted that he was hoping that Lionel would offer the GP38-2 in the GTW scheme and have it equipped with TMCC/RailSounds.
It would have to be the Grand Trunk Western's GP38-2 locos number from 5800 to 5832 that Lionel should make.
