When I said that I'd try to MU these two when I got the VL BB, I was asked to post photos and such.  Well, here they are.

As you can see the KL BB is very small next to the VL BB.  I did try MUing them, with the KL BB being the lead unit, but I think it wouldn't work very well as it traveled faster then the VL BB, so it'd be trying to pull it around.  Sorry, no video of that as I was busy trying to keep the KL BB from rear ending the VL BB.  But here is a video of them running side by side.

Thanks for the pics, looks like your little one is enjoying the trains. Nothing beats sharing this hobby with kids.

I remember when I got the KL BB, I thought it was huge.  Up to then the biggest I had was  GP38-2.  But this VL BB set a new standard for size.

And yes, my youngest loved watching it, and every time I did something like blow in the stacks to clear the fluid or open a hatch to adjust something he would try to do it too.  And as you can see from the video, he liked the lights and the details, as he kept poking at them.  He turn 2 on Saturday.

My other son, turns 11 Saturday (Yes they have the same birthday, but that's a different story for another day.), kept saying he wants a Big Boy, and could he have my old one now that I have a new one, otherwise he stayed in his room.

That sounds like a story for a different forum

What are the chances you'd have 2 boys, born on the same date?  Amazing.

And two different mothers to boot.  My life has some interesting facts in it.  We're expecting child #3, and I made sure that there is no way they could be born on the same day (Due in July.).

The reason for the noticeable difference in size between the two Big Boys is that the K-Line locomotive was designed to 1: 64 S Scale proportions , while the Lionel Vision Line engine is 1:48  scale.

K-Line wanted to keep the cost of their engine affordable and that is the way they did it. This was not well received by a lot of scale oriented hobbyists, but the 0-27 and traditional; size O gaugers loved it. Later, Lionel even took the K-Line Big Boy tooling and modified it  for use on S gauge two-rail track as an American Flyer piece.  But that is another story.
