I bought a K-Line Missouri Commemorative Gondola Bank car. K652-7444. I am thinking of repainting it. I saw 2 on e-bay for nearly $100.00. Would I be making a mistake, or is this a fluke asking this much?

Always check the sold side of that venue.
There are no real values. It is only in your mind. There was a K-Line daughters first birthday car for $100 on ebay for a long time. In that time I bought two. One for $12 and the other for $20. You have to play the long game in collectibles.

You know how to use the “sold items” and “completed items” filters in eBay, I hope. If not, now is the time to try, because there are four recent sales that will answer your question.
As these are metal, you can remove any or all lettering with acetone. I removed the "Missouri" stuff, left the "reporting marks" (MO) and dimensional data, and updated this car to a modern Mobile & Ohio gon, though, of course, there are no modern M&O gons or anything else, as the M&O wound up in the GM&O which wound up in the ICG which...and so forth.
I have some proper Mobile and Ohio logo decals, so I used a black one. All else is K-line. The car number is actually 1 digit too long to be an AAR- proper RR number (6 digits max), but I left it.
Before you paint your car, ask yourself if you want to use the factory color and any of the graphics. The factory stuff is better quality than home made.
Sorry about the somewhat fuzzy photo.
