K-Line K623-1781 O Scale NYC 4-Bay diecast metal hopper 904420

This is a nicely detailed K-Line diecast metal 4-bay hopper car. The model includes operating hopper doors and diecast metal sprung trucks. A photo of a typical prototype hopper is also shown.

Cannot verify the accuracy of the road number shown on the model.  The BLT DATE on the model is not correct.

Original Post

Love these K-line cars; they are good models and have a nice "steam-era" low proportion.

The number series is indeed correct for a batch of NYC hoppers - but the actual NYC cars cars were 3-bay, built by GATC in 1952, 40'8" long, number series 904000 - 904999.

The K-line car prototype was not an actual NYC car - so far as I know - and, while the prototype photo shown above is a 4-bay NYC hopper, it is obviously not the same as that modeled by K-line, as I'm sure you know.

Nice cars; have several - these, in various road names, can sometimes be had for below-plastic prices. I would love to have the NYC version, even though it's a non-prototypical model. I do have it lettered for the NYC B&A subsidiary.
