To all of you "techs" out there. I have a "new old stock" K-Line, NYC, J-1 that will not sound the Whistle continuiously (holding the Button down)while using TMCC and Cab-1. Holding the button down produces a Whistle that goes and stops. I tried it with (2) different TMCC Bases and Cab-1s. It works fine with Lagacy and Cab-2.

It has Lionel Boards in it, so I changed the following components; R1LC-08, Railsounds and Power Board. I even changed the Motor Board, since Serial Data Line goes to it. I also created another antenna wire to see if it helped at all.

So far, there is nothing I have done that makes this problem go away.

Any ideas?

Dear Marty,

Thanks for the reply. I repair trains here and am a Lionel Service Station. I have since returned the piece to my customer. I finally left him with a "work around" until he was possibly buying a Legacy system.

The work around gets more mysterious. I put a R4LC Receiver in it, "BUT" it would only blow correctly when addressed as one (1). Believe it or not, the bug came back with any other address I put in it.

I was just fishing to see if anyone out there has seen such a thing. I'm not a very good looser.

Regards, Bob Barth

Why an R4LC, it came with an R2LC?  Usually reseating the power and audio board will help.  Reseating the chips on the audio board will also help.  That is not a wireless tether and I would also be suspect of the old tether.  Does the whistle blow OK in conventional?

If you put the tender on the track alone, can you blow the wistle?
