I have 2 k-line engines not working. Can I get them fixed? Can they be run without TMCC? If so How? If I can get them fixed, where?
first is EP-5. came when still K-Line
second is CSX SD70MAC. this came in Lionel box

I also have two K-Line engines with TMCC that sometimes work and sometimes don't. Have you tried to run them conventionally? Do you have a simple transformer from a starter set? You can hook one up to your track then turn the power up. Your engines will respond to variable track power just like any conventional loco.
I have tried running them with a lionel transformer the EP-5 does nothing but light 1 headlight the SD70 does the start up and run sounds, also smokes, but does not move. If I put the battery in it idles and shuts down after removing power. I don't mind if I could run them without tmcc, I would just like to run them.

I am also along the AVRR tracks, so my Grandson and I get some close up train watchimg.
Bummer, the other end of the state. I was hoping you were close, you could drop by and we could take a look. 
If you can't find a local shop, you'll probably have to consider shipping it somewhere.
OK the only shop I trusted closed up about a year ago. I will try to find another one. Thanks again
