I recently repaired my K-line Watchman's Shanty and I would like to share this success. It turned out to be a defective motor. The replacement can be purchased on ebay. (NOTE: EBAY LINK REMOVED PER OGR TOS) I removed the solder contacts from the old motor and then instead of placing them under the terminals on the motor, as was done originally, I placed them over the top and wedged a small brass shim between the motor terminals and the housing securing the motor to the frame. By doing this I did not have to take apart the new motor. I'm hoping he will make lots more trips in and out of the shanty.
