I am going to change the couplers on my MTH RK passenger cars to Kadee #746 couplers. My question is besides the height of the coupler needing to match the other cars is, how do I mount the couplers and their housings to the car? The guy at Kadee was very helpful and said that they should have mounts on the cars already but I do not see any. My sets are about 4 years old PRR Madison R-T-R and Santa Fe Deluxe R-T-R sets. Are their really any MTH passengers cars out there that are setup for Kadee couplers? I am going to replace about 20 sets of couplers so any information would be appreciated.

I suggest you visit the 3-Rail SCALE Forum (3RS) and read all the information at the top of the Forum (stickies) concerning mounting Kadee couplers. You will most likely need shims (I use various thicknesses of Evergreen Styrene, at .500" wide, with thickness up to .120"). You probably should also purchase various lengths of screws, both self tapping #2 and 2-56 machine screws.

This video explains the process although for a freight car, the general idea is the same for your passenger car.
Not really. I agree that the Rail King product line will not have the predrilled hole, nor the included shims for body mounting Kadee couplers. However, the shims included with Premier Line products, produce a perfect Kadee coupler height, according to the Kadee height gauge, for cars still equipped with Hi-Rail trucks. When I convert to 2-Rail SCALE trucks, which tends to lower the car, then I have to remove and/or replace the original MTH shim.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction but it looks like Kadees can't handle my 042 and 031 curves so I will stick with the ginormous craw couplers. Thanks you all.
