Am I correct that all modern MTH diesels have Kadee mounting holes to add Kadee or Kadee compatible couplers?

I'm looking at MTH GP30's&1 SD60 diesel,all which are set up for 3rail which is fine,all I want to do in 3 rail is replace the Lionel couplers with Protocraft couplers which use the same type  draft gear box as Kadee does. If things go well fellas,I should have 100ft of used Gargraves flextrack with Stainless steel rails,that looks brand new,& 5 used Ross #4 turnouts to get me a good start on my planned 40'x15' layout. I'm keeping my fingures crossed.

Thank you to everyone in advance that replies.

Stuart,thank you,that's what I thought but the online shop the engine's advertised with,said no.
Now the hard parts.
How do I dispense with the Lionel couplers? What's the proceedure I mean? I was told where there are "Electro Couplers," it's best to unwire those connections to keep from accidentally hitting the coupling buttons to release the couplers on the front&rear.(?) Since I know nothing about wiring&am all new to O scale diesels,this should be a nightmare.
Thank you.

To remove the old couplers:

1.  Remove the shell so you can unplug the couplers' wires from the rest of the electronics.  Its better than cutting the wires because there is less chance of the leads causing a short and damaging the electronics;

2.  Unscrew the truck from the motor.  There is a single Phillips head screw under the truck that holds them together;

3.  Turn over the truck and remove the two screws which hold the pilot to the truck.  Then remove the pilot;

4.  You will now find a small metal piece which hold the wires to the coupler.  Unscrew and remove that piece;

5.  Now take a small flat blade screw driver to pop off the e-clip on the T-bar.  Then remove the T-bar which will release the coupler from the truck;

6.  Re-attach the pilot to the truck, the motor to the truck, and the body to the chassis.  Now you can install the Kadee (or equivalent) couplers.

I hope this was helpful.

P.S.  I've used 1-72 screws in the factory drilled holes without any problems.

Thanks again.

Hi Al,

No I haven't done any conversions of Atlas or Lionel diesels.  Good luck with them.
