Some how my post got all messed up
been super busy with work but must say had an awesome time at york got some great deals.
Managed to finish the turntable area ballast, all that’s left is the storage yard in the back. Added some z stuff signals. My dad wired up the storage yard switches. Lots of new rolling stock and some more legacy GN power. My dad picked up the F3’s then I got him the sd45 for his birthday and Christmas.. more to come just super busy. Be sure to view my YouTube I been posting weekly there.
Looking good Andy! you and your dad sure are doing a wonderful job on your layout! I wish I would have been into trains when my kids were younger, but I didn't get started till I was 47 and that was a little to late for my kids!

Thanks, proper lighting is the key always when any sort of video/photo. All led natural daylight bulbs. The perimeter all point to create the shadows on the background.

Tonight got All the ground cover done and all ballast done. There’s a spot by the yard left empty, going to look for a building for that area.

Andy, the shelf looks great, makes me thing that it might be a great idea for skirting around my layout, plus extra storage for more cars!
The shelves look great, Andy!! Yes, there never seems to be enough open space storage, does there?

Mike, you could also make the shelves hinged like doors,
so you could get in behind them...

Great work! Your layout looks better and better every time I see it. It's nice to see you and your father working on the layout together, especially with the shelf project, they look awesome. I too, look for every deal I can find. After thinking about it, I would estimate that 95% of my engines/rolling stock are pre-owned.

Where heading to an auction Wednesday hopefully score some deals. I recently got three mth engines NIB dirt cheap from an online auction.
My dads going to stain everything like the trim piece between the shelve and bridge. That was the test piece.

Great suggestion! I have learned so much here an do everyday!
So this past Wednesday we went to a cabin fever auction and had a good time. I scored 10 milk cars 3 MTH cars and 3 atlas cars. My father went for some engines and the conditions where not that great and people where bidding high, so he ended up getting three mth cars too.
Thursday night I went to a local store to grab a caboose and see the big steam inventory. So he had the exact Allegheny my dad really wanted plus the GG1 both New JLC and great prices.
For the last year we been talking about getting a GG1 and built the new layout with the tunnels prepared for one .
