Last week my Legacy controller - from about  2007 - died while I was using it. The screen went blank and despite my best efforts, it never came back on. I contacted Lionel Service (Meghan) who gave me a return authorization. I received my Legacy just a little bit ago and everything works great. The service was fast, efficient, and the people were very helpful and professional. And I appreciate that.

The second reason really has nothing to do with trains. It's something bigger. Bear with me. Lionel provided free shipping because I'm a veteran. Meghan took me at my word and didn't need my DD214. That seems like such a little thing, but it really isn't. A little story: years ago, if a Soldier was in uniform and wanted to cash a check, it was accepted without any ID; his signature showed that he had the money to cover the check. Today, a Soldier in uniform needs two forms of ID to cash a check. Something's happened over the years and the attitudes and courtesies have eroded. But maybe not at Lionel. And I appreciate that even more.
