When I bought the Aquatex glass for the main part of Lake Chiemsee, I asked for the pieces that were left over after they cut the blank according to the pattern I gave them. One of the extra pieces was rather large, so I shaped it a bit and used it as an extension that flows under rock walkway. (I was surprised as to how easy the Aquatex glass cuts!)

The lake extension also is a hatch, and I will post those pictures under the Layout Design forum in a day or so of how that worked out.

(NOTE: The thumbnails at the bottom of the thread are out of order; I had difficulty uploading the pictures last night.)

John, POTRZB –

Yes and yes! During one of my trips to Germany, we stayed at that precise Army resort with my son and his family – it was summer of 2003. He was (still is) is the Army (UH60 pilot) and that vacation was the best.

BTW, I believe the Army gave back or closed that resort shortly after we stayed there, but I am not 100% sure.

 Alan, Alex –

Judy said the same thing, and it brought back memories.

Alex – that is just wood with fine rock on the surface and larger rocks on top. I used colored rocks for the entire area (as for decorating) and then painted them off-white. By the way, do you recognize the cottage? I believe you were selling one similar to it. This was I cut off from a Lionel Rico Station, and added some painting.
