I have two Legacy engines (2-6-6-4 & 2-8-8-4) in lash-up mode pulling a heavy consist. I was paying close attention to the rear coupler on the first engine and the front coupler of the second and noticed that the joined coupler would sometimes be up against each other or pulling away tightly depending on if the train was on a straight-a-way or a curve. Same results if I changed the order of engines. Again, these engines are quite similar, so I doubt the wheel classification difference is a factor.
My question: are both of these engines equally sharing the load or is the second engine still doing all the work while the first engine is just tagging along. If so, would this place more stress on the second engine because there is weight behind and in front of it?
Thoughts?
