Even though the Black Hall stood quiet and empty, there were some nice looking layout scenes to be found at York.  Here's a sampling from the White Hall.

I've often compared the excitement and anticipation of walking in the door Thursday at noon at York  to coming down the stairs on Christmas morning.  This time around, the presence of a certain jolly fat man helped keep the mood going.  (Thanks for the Rail King dummy, Santa!!)

Driving home Friday afternoon on I-83, I saw what looked to be a Rail King van come to life!

Didn't even know there was a layout - heard no announcements promoting it, saw no signs taped to doors, etc as in the past. Websites, etc for the ED that I looked at had a blank space or "no layout" in the areas I was looking. Others I talked to said no layout at all this year as well. Unfortunate, I would have liked to see it.

Ditto for me. Wlould especially have enjoyed seeing that drive-in theater and learn more about its construction and "guts" (inner workings). And to think White Hall was only the one missed we didn't get to yesterday since by the time we would have started walking there it was already 4:30 and woman was announcing to make final purchases so sellers could be closed by 5. "Tis a pity.

That is unfortunate.  When we there yesterday, there was a volunteer outside of the black hall directing people to the layout.  I have seen a layout in that hall in prior years as well but the direction was useful.

Knowing, or at least assuming/being told there was no layout, I didn't even go near the  Black Hall as I'm sure most others did. I had been in the Red Hall but didn't get to the White Hall for some reason. If I knew there was a layout in there, I would have made it a point. Only building I didn't get in.

yep ditto for me.............I think some one mentioned that the National Capitol Trackers were going to have a layout in Black Hall.

I went there...the outside of Black hall was mysteriously quiet..devoid of fellow train nuts.... I opened the door............and it looked like my wallet after a good York.

And I agree...I NEVER heard or saw indication of a layout in the White Hall.

I think i absentmindedly passed up being art the White Hall

We (National Capital Trackers) never had any plans on being in the Black Hall this York. We were in the Black Hall in April 2014 and don't plan to return for a few years down the road.

Thank for the nice photos Mike - Personally seeing a good layout can be one of the highlights of a visit.

Wonder why these layouts are not put in the information packets or at least a sign posted on the Black Hall alerting folks to the layout elsewhere.  Would think the club who has the layout would have posted some signs themselves!

Thanks for posting.

Its a shame the announcements dont mention the layouts.

Didn't hear anything about layouts but I got there Friday morning and before I had even completed my application and gotten my badge I heard the "ARROWS" announcement before 9:15. Seriously, were there that many incidents or traffic tie ups to warrant an announcement in the first 15 minutes?

Did have a good time tho, got a ton of stuff.
