Layout Progress...Never too late!!! "Steel Mill Painted and Weathered" 6/25/24

I hope everyone's weekend is starting off well. I recently finished detailing the large truss bridge on the layout that took several months (sigh of relief). My first effort was in creating gusset plates for it. Then that started the run down a rabbit hole. After that I decided to add lace girder. Then more rivets on the diagonal members of the bridge, etc. Anywho, 8 months later, here we are.

Nice job Dave. I agree it was worth the added time adding the extra details. Bridges are often focal points on the layout that just draw your attention.

Thanks Dave C! I agree with your statement about bridges being a focal point. I find the statement to be true for models and the prototype.

Here's a project I have been working on periodically. I have showed various steps on other threads but will repeat them here so that you see the conception through finished product...well almost. Right now the building is in place but not secured. I had to make the overpass removable for now as I need to add wall panels inside the wall so that you don't see drywall. You'll see what I mean in the last photo. Also, the area is in need of scenery. All of that is forthcoming. I'm just glad that I don't have to look at that hole in the wall, at least on this side. As Myles says, "continuing saga".

Dave, you could write the book. It would be great at train shows if people, such as yourself, could give clinics on these topics. Excellent job and pure artistry.

RSJB18-Thank you. Yes, I have a small 2-rail set up. Though the bigger portion of the layout is 3-rail but I have shown some major projects on the 2-rail set up in this thread.

Jay-That is an awesome compliment and I really appreciate it. Who knows what the future holds.

Dave, I agree with everyone else, the structure really looks great!

Bob made a good observation I missed looking at it on the small screen; smart phone.  I have overlooked any 2-rail you have shown in any photographs.
