Well what you see in the pictures is about what Im doing inside. But I have to run 50 feet of track with a reversing loop at the end out around the garden at our little mom and pop store. In the pictures you can see I have started the incline on the back wall, but not sure if Im going to do a helix or just jump out the side wall and do a long ramp.

Thank you for the info, the pic's were great too.I started out totally unfamiliar with O Scale & this forum was my "learning ground." There's another fine group called,"O Scale Kings" that's great, too.I took time deciding, but finally decided to go with 3 rail at 1st,but months later, decided coming from nothing but 2 rail in 30 years of mostly HO with a few years of just experimenting in N scale,(no layout was ever put up in N),that 2 rail was what I had to model in. Now after more months trying to get layout ideas,I'm thinking about staying in HO mostly because my finances have hit unexpected tough spots like broken water pipes,& dental bills over 10 grand that weren't supposed to be there. Also,in HO,EVERYTHING is mostly at your fingure tips, while in O Scale many models don't exist & the ones that do,go years without replenished runs of existing roadnames like CSX which I model,& few new roadnames.Decals don't hardly exist,& custom runs of cars I'd like to have done, are totally over my price limit.I'm still in between HO & O, though I thought I'd made the decision to stay in HO. Love the size of O!!Well, you've got a great start, happy modeling!!Thanks,Al Hummel

Mike,I think I probably will stay In HO.I have mostly modern O scale rolling stock, but I acquired some 60s era tank cars that came to me used, but with a few grab irons or stirrup steps added would look good. I have 25,500 gallon Atlas tank cars as well as smaller chlorine tankers,4750 cu ft cvd grain hoppers,as well as some 5161 KYLE & CARGILL cvd grain hoppers. Also have some modern steel cars. Except for tank cars & cvd grain hoppers,my variety is kind of varied, some 3 rail that can be converted to 2 rail. I was going to model CSX,so most of my 4750 cvd grain hoppers & boxcars are CSX.Your diesel is definitely modern era & looks to be 2 rail with fixed pilots. That should convert pretty easy to DCC. I can't tell if the manufactuer is Atlas or MTH,but am guessing it's Atlas.I have all I need in HO,but thanks for the offer of swapping. I have too much in HO as a matter of fact & am downsizing my inventory a lot,as I acquired much more than I had area to run it on over the years, plus B&O/C&O changed into Chessie, then to CSX,so am downsizing those eras. Thanks,Al

I don't know how you feel about operations, but I think a series of switchbacks couldn't find a much better area for a climb to......???... Even higher levels of ground!

With all that room I'd expand"up", bi-level, eventually. An ore mine, logging, work force transport,. Electric? A rising trolley line? I was going to go with an On30 narrow gauge to supply my big road.
