Rode the SR Pelican, train #41 many times during the mid-1960's enroute to college at University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL. The Pelican arrived at about 1AM, plenty of time to get to an 8AM class!

Had a cafe-diner only between Lynchburg, VA and Roanoke, VA as the trackage was all N&W between Lynchburg and Bristol. Later on in day had box lunch/supper in Tenn as no diner. #41 at that time was mainly a mail train (with a Pullman car) but the schedule allowed more time home in NJ rather than taking the Southern Crescent to school.

Thanks.
