First off Merry Christmas, hope you got your train fix after celebrating the REAL reason for the season (important first)

And so I had a chance to buy some LED GU10 lamps to replace some in the train room, save power and reduce heat load.  Found good buy at Lightingever.com at $6.50 a bulb.  Figured what the heck, cheap and give me a chance to see how well they perform.

Got them and replaced five lamps. Turned on power.  Big mistake.  Lamps are really bright and white.  So guess what, all the blemishes, warts and all are now sticking out.  Ouch!!   Maybe I will revert to those old heat producing yellowish incandescents .

I built the room with LED's as a main lighting source.  I never took into consideration how they might highlight boo boos when applied as an after thought.  Luckily you chose the type that is dimmable.   Hopefully for all of us, their claim of longevity comes true....payback for the initial cost.  Otherwise, the type I chose ( replacements for conventional pot lights ) give me the best light I can possibly imagine.  Perfect for detailed work using these old far sighted eyes.

I only buy the 3000K bulbs. I find the 2700K too yellow and the 5000K too white. By the way, I am using LED GU10 track lights and when I installed a scale speed sensor system to display scale speed of the moving trains, I found that I had to replace one of the LED track lights with an incandescent bulb. It seems the LED light was somewhat invisible to these particular light sensing diodes.
