Hello...

My friend has a traditional tubular style layout, concentric ovals each powered by a handle of multiple KW transformers.  To get legacy on the layout we ran the single wire from the base to a loop and then jumpered to the next loop.  Essentially dedicating two of the multiple loops off a single KW to Legacy.  My friends son is the primary owner and user of the layout and is autistic and has difficulty with the loading/programming of the engines.

My question is...  would it be possible to use sensor tracks to simplify adding new engines, and...  can one track be used to load the engines and then moving them to their respective tracks.  In other words once programmed they are good to go on either of the two dedicated tracks.  My thought is "yes" but would like to be reassured.

Thanks...

Yes, if connected correctly, running most IR equipped Legacy locomotive over the sensor track will add it to the Legacy base.  Once in the base it can be run on any track that the base is controlling.  What this won't do is reprogram the ID number of the locomotive.  They all come factory set as 1, and unless you reprogram the ID before running it over the sensor track you'll just keep overwriting the data for locomotive 1 in the base.
