I have an early production Legacy Base.  It came with version 1.3.  I've updated it as new versions were available and its currently at 1.6.  Last night while running the layout, I had two engines break into a run away.  One was a legacy centipede and one was a TMCC k4.  Luckily I am quick on the halt button to prevent any damage.  Today, I had a TMCC gp30 do a runaway.  I doubt all these engines are having board failures so I started to check things out.  I noticed that the Legacy base is flashing the Yellow light while I am sending commands to the remote.  When that happens, things start to go bad.  If the yellow light stops flashing, everything seems to work ok again.  Trying to lower or raise the voltage on the ZW-L when the yellow light is on, causes it immediately max out or go to zero.

I can only assume the base needs to go to Lionel for repair?  I also have hooked up to the base the Y cable and the old Cab1. I also have the Zstuff data driver for the dz2500 switch machines.  Would any of these cause a problem?  I've been running this setup for a few years now and this trouble just started this week.

I tried that MartyE.  It seemed to make it better but I cannot replicate the problem consistently yet to know for sure.  All I do know so far is that when the yellow light comes on, it screws up whatever command I am sending out.  If its an engine I am talking to, it takes off.  I guess I will have to disconnect the Y cable and try it for a few days but its bit nerve racking as I can't trust the halt button on the remote.  Nothing works right if the yellow light comes on.  I need to be by the ZW-L to throw the power switch.  My hope is that if someone else had a similar problem, it could save me a few diagnostic steps.

Tried reprogramming the base.  No effect.  Still has the problem.  I can get the legacy base to work only if I disconnect the serial cable from it.  I tried just connecting my old CAB1 base - Legacy base acted up.  Tried just connecting my dz2001 driver - Legacy base acted up.  When it acts up, the yellow light goes practically solid and the red light on my cab1 base goes solid from all the commands being sent out.

Since I am seeing the problem regardless what is connected to the Legacy serial port, I would assume the base needs repair.  Any last thoughts before I call Lionel?

Thanks
