I'm trying to understand how to get my Legacy Powermaster working (powered by a 180 watt Powerhouse), and I'm getting a flashing green light on the Powermaster itself.

The manual states "[Green] light will flash when setting the maximum output in CMD mode."  However I can't find any other reference to this in the manual, or on these forums, or on Google, or even on the Lionel Powermaster YouTube video.  When/why would I want to set the maximum output in CMD mode, and how do I do it, and how do I get out of it so the light will stop flashing?

I'm using only Legacy locos (well, maybe an occasional TMCC loco but no conventional.)

I'm obviously doing something wrong, because (after assigning the Powermaster an engine ID) pressing CAB-2 'Boost" does *not* turn on track power, but turning the throttle *does* turn on track power.

One point: The Lionel video says that Powermaster can only be assigned an ID of "Track 1" thru "Track 9."  I'm assuming he means Train 1 thru 9.  However the manual that came with mine (presumably updated for Legacy) says I can assign Train 1 thru 99, or Engine 1 thru 98 - I think because the video is using an old TMCC Powermaster and I've got a newer Legacy Powermaster.  I've tried both Engine 98 and Train 99, because those numbers are easy for me to remember (although neither solved my mystery.)

The whole process seems like a bit of a hassle even when I get it working -- on a fairly large layout I'm going to need several Powermasters and they all need to be manually turned on with my CAB-2 before I can start operating?  I do appreciate that there is extra circuit protection, and better yet the panic button on my CAB-2 will shut off power to the track, not just the locos.  Perhaps I can assign all Powermasters the same engine ID?

Thanks much for your wisdom ;-)

After setting the ID are you powering down and putting the switch back to run? Is the other switch set to command?

Yes you can set them all to the same ID.

To set the maximum voltage available in command press the set button and then dial up the red knob to the desired voltage and then press set again. To delete the set voltage address the powermaster and then press set twice to clear the voltage. This is a speed limit set that works for young people who love to go too fast.

Legacy base and remote need to be updated to 1.4 or above to work correctly.

Thanks Ron!  Yes I had the switches set correctly, but was pressing Set at various points just trying to understand how to get the blasted thing working.

Your instructions regarding the Set button were spot on, and you also solved the mystery of why that feature even exists ;-)

Wherever did you find that information?

Thanks again for your quick and helpful response.
