On April 3rd I received my Legacy Control System and returned it to my hobby store the next week because of a faulty display. I can not get an update as to the status of my returned unit. Am I being to patient with my hobby shop for not knowing where my unit is or its status?

I'd say you are overly patient. Lionel has been turning them around fast. I cannot even guess what the hold up is. If it went to Lionel it should have been back 2 weeks at the most.
Is there a telephone number or process I can have the hobby shop follow to either find or establish a status of my legacy system? I also have an expansion system on order and the shop states that they are backordered. Are these units shipping?
You should sent it to Ohio ,the turning around is no more that three weeks, infact, the last time I sent my one was June 7 and I got my Legacy Contols on June 18, this is FAST service, thanks Lionel

unless you have a return authorization number Lionel might not be able to help you. call Lionel Customer Service at 586-949-4100 or you can email mike reagan, mreagan at Lionel.com
yes the expansion systems are back ordered. if I were you I would spend the extra 50 bucks and just get the complete system that way if there is ever a problem with your base you have a back up. That is what I did, just remember only one base hooked up to the track at a time.
