I purchased a Lionel legacy #990 over a year ago and I am in the process of installing it for use on my layout. I understand the basic concept of programming engines into the remote and base but I can’t find any information on programming non-Lionel products into these two items. I am using Gargraves track and switches and would like to be able to control the switches with the Legacy remote. As I stated before, there does not appear or seem to be any information on how to accomplish this. Is there any videos or information available that will address the topic of switches? I would appreciate any assistance, sugestions and/or consideration.

I don't know where or how to get the answers from this website, so could you email them to me at ejg1950@yahoo.com

Thanks,

Ed

Ed, all you need is to add a Lionel 6-81639 LCS Accessory Switch Controller 2 (ASC2) and a Lionel 6-81499 LCS DB-9 Cable with Power Supply. Pages 32-35 of the ACS2 owner's manual explain how to wire Z-Stuff DZ-1000 switch machines to the ASC2 and how to operate them from your Legacy CAB-2. Pages 6-7 of the owner's manual explain how to connect the ACS2 to your Legacy base using the DB-9 Cable with Power Supply.

The ASC2 can control up to 4 switches. To control more switches, you can add additional ASC2s, which will connect in piggyback fashion to the first ASC2 (you'll only need the one DB-9 Cable with Power Supply, no matter how many ASC2s you add).

Keith,

Thank you for the assistance. Would you add a WiFi module with these or is it not necessary? Thanks for letting me pick your brain.
