Legacy Version Compatibility and Upgrade ?

I'd personally suggest that you upgrade all the Legacy remotes and command bases to 1.52.  I know of no reason you wouldn't want to be running the latest version at this point.

Perhaps someone already has the modules and can do a mass update at your club.  I keep a set of 1.52 modules in my bag just for this reason, anyone that wants an upgrade can bring their base and remote(s) to the club and update them.  If you have the modules, the update for a base and remote don't take more than a minute or two, it's very quick.

You can update anything from 1.2 and upward to any currently available Legacy release.  Obviously, I recommend 1.52 since I see no reason to use any other one at this point.  If you happen to have an old 1.0 version, that has to go back to Lionel for an update and then you're good.

Gunrunnerjohn,I am not any good at doing updates with a computer i would rather pay someone to make me a set of modules for the base & cab 2,would you be interested in doing this, if yes what would it cost including shipping to zip code 07002? I am referring to the 1.52 upgrade,if you are unable to do this do you know anyone who would do it for me?

Gerald, send me an email and we'll work something out.  If you have some old blue modules, we can make you some rewritable ones for this and future updates.

Or just buy them from Lionel. Last I heard they had 1.51, they was only a few minor changes to 1.52

Why buy read-only modules with an already out of date version in it?  I guess I don't understand that logic.

How many 1.5 versions are there? ....

1.5   &  1.51   &   1.52

Or, is 1.5 really 1.51?

I just spoke with Lionel to inquire about upgrading a 1.3 version I have. She said "version 1.5" modules are available from Lionel, and that black writeable modules to download 1.52 are available at dealers.

I'm running 1.52 here, and at the club as well as anyone that brings in their units for upgrade.

How or whom may I contact at Lionel to order the Legacy 1.52 upgrade modules?

I am running a MAC and have no way to download upgrade even if I can find the source.

I would appreciate any input here. I can get to the Lionel home page but cannot ascertain where to find an order form or a telephone number to call that others seem to have access to.

I was able to get through to Lionel per John's instructions. However, I was informed that 1.52 was only available through download.  Does anyone know of a source for acquiring these upgrade modules apart from a download? I cannot download onto my MAC and Lionel said that a download was the only option I had. I have only the blue modules for 1.3.

I see you have a club listed (the link is bad BTW, should be http://midamerica3railers.webs.com/), maybe they can assist you in getting some black modules loaded with 1.52?

1.51 is better than 1.3 if you cant do the modules yourself (1.52 was a minor update)

Depend on your setup there are a few options for Mac (I use Parallels to burn them on mine) of find a friend with a PC and run to their house to do them

I'd still look for a long term solution that doesn't involve shelling out $40 for one-time update modules, not to mention shipping added to it.  You're real close to Patterson NJ, and I know the guys at NJ Hi-Railers would gladly help you update your setup.  There are plenty of folks using Legacy that are pretty close to you in North Jersey, and I'll bet you can get the update done to 1.52 quickly and cheap or free.
