Hi Folks,
My club has an older Legacy Base and Cab-2 that was donated. The Base and Cab-2 are both version 1.2. The Base and Cab-2 both work well on the club layout.
Yesterday, one of our club members brought down a Cab-2 that he purchased new in the box with a Base at the recent York meet. His Cab-2 is version 1.4. He did not bring the instructions or his new Base.
His new Cab-2 (version 1.4) could not find the club's base (version 1.2). We confirmed that the club's Base was set to channel 1 and that the new Cab-2 was scanning for channel 1.
1. Does the Cab-2 have to be operating the same software version as the base in order for it to find the base?
Our club member had two blue Lionel chips that came with his Legacy set. One chip said Cab-2 Version 1.4 and the other said Base version 1.4.
We inserted these two chips into the club's Cab-2 and Base. We were trying to see if we could upgrade the club's Base and Cab-2 from version 1.2 to 1.4. We couldn't get anything to work regarding the upgrade. Again, we did not have any instructions so we were blindly pressing buttons.
The club's Cab-2 and Base stayed at version 1.2 and worked just fine after the unsuccessful upgrade attempt.
I went to Lionel's website but was unable to find instructions to upgrade the software. Perhaps I looked in the wrong place.
2. Where can I find instructions on how to upgrade the club's Cab-2 and Base to the current software version? I understand that the current Legacy version is 1.5. We don't have any chips for the club's donated Legacy system. We also need to find out how to upgrade our member's Legacy system from 1.4 to 1.5.
Unfortunately, we do have any nearby hobby shops that can perform an upgrade for us. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area and I don't know anyone who knows how to do this.
Thank you for any help that you can give me.
Joe
