I am running Legacy through the DCS ap on my Android phone. It works great. I can control Legacy engines (in Legacy mode), PS2/PS3 engines in DCS mode, and TMCC engines in command mode as well from my phone. I haven't tried running conventional from it yet, but it will do that also.
wow,not that I have,so then the legacy wifi module is a moot point ?
I do not have the Legacy Wifi Module (I was not aware of it until you posted your questions). You do need a Lionel SER2 module with cable and power supply.
You need components from both Lionel and MTH to accomplish it. You need a TIU and WIU from MTH, plus a special MTH cable to connect everything. From Lionel, you need the Legacy Command base and the previously mentioned SER2. If you look for Barry Broskowitz's posts in the DCS forum he explains it all. It is also in his DCS Wifi Companion book.
I followed his instructions and it worked on the first try (and has ever since). I think you lose one or two Legacy features (not sure on this, but I haven't missed any when operating my trains).
You were wrong. The WIFI is and MTH product but can be used for Legacy when you purchase the necessary components from MTH as RAK stated.
Newer Legacy has Bluetooth capability. Its a simplified operating system. However,You can run trains right from your phone using the Lionchief bluetooth app down loadable for free : http://www.lionel.com/bluetooth/
