Have a Lionel Milwaukee S3. Have had intermittent problems with the sound which was corrected with a replacement IR emitter on the engine draw bar. Now I can't get Legacy to wake up. Always starts on conventional mode when track power is applied. Other Legacy engines work fine on this layout. Any clues. All plugs are seated properly. No pins bent over.

Have you tried re-programming the locomotive ID#? If it has been like this since it returned from being repaired, then this is likely the problem, as the ID# is routinely reset during repairs. Also, I have found that re-programming the ID# often solves a variety of other strange problems.
