Here are some shots of the Lego layout at the annual Science Museum of VA show this past weekend. I think the layout is extremely cool........this might be a good bridge between Brio/Thoms and O Gauge.

This layout layout was featured in the Rotunda with our modular one.

Peter,

Thank you for the photos.  The Pittsburgh area Lego group has been setting up at the Monroeville Greenberg show for some time.  Not having any grandchildren yet, I didn't pay much attention until I was there on November 8th.  I watched a pretty elaborate Lego train just rolling around that layout to beat the band.  There were a lot of kids interested in the layout, so I agree with your statement "this might be a good bridge between Brio/Thoms and O Gauge."

Spence, I am with you.

When Lego first came on the scene, they were just building blocks.  I think I had some doors and windows.  I do remember building one house after another, tearing each down to build another.  I only had one set of blocks, so there was only so much I could do.  I do remember setting a Lego house on my HO layout for a while.  This would have been in my early teens, maybe 1969.  Folks have mentioned Erector sets on this Forum.  I had one of those too, but found it to be frustrating.

The Legos and the Lego trains are both pretty impressive. Kids seem to love them also. They've come a long way since I was a kid. The trains run pretty good too. My grandson has a Lego train and I have been very impressed with it. What some of the kids can do now days is also on the pretty impressive list. I think they are becoming more like O gauge trains and now being classified as 'adult toys' (keep it clean, I mean real toy toys ).
