Love to see some pics of any UK or British style tinplate layouts. Thinking about building a little layout using A couple Bassett Lowke engines, probably clockwork (Duke of York) and a live steam Mogul. Need some inspiration pics to get my mind working.

I too would love to see some. I love British trains. Must be all those hours watching Thomas the Tank Engine with my son when he was little.
John.
I do run British style tinplate trains but do not have a tinplate layout and run these trains in the garden. I did put some tinplate accessories on the track in these videos with Hornby trains:
More trains including Bassett Lowke clockwork and live steam can be found on my youtube channel

Fred's videos are the best. Love your garden set-up with the 4-rail track.
Fred's videos are the best, I had actualy watched a couple with some live steam without knowing the video was his. Great elevated garden railway, this is what I wanted to build in my garden but didnt know how to go about it, so we raised up the ground level line about 2 foot higher than the rest of the yard area. I would love a completely elevated line someday in the future, probably when and if I go to O scale outdoors, my ground level line is G using mostly LGB equipment for now. Mike
You might want to have a look at the Dream city railway videos on YouTube.
This is mainly tinplate 2 rail, what the poms call coarse scale.
Here is one.

Thanks for the link Bob! The big trick is finding one of those reissue moguls or a halfway decent older version. I should have cash in hand this saturday should one be offered to me. Mike
Jim and Mike,
Thank you for your kind words on the videos taken on my garden layout.
This year the Dutch chapter of the HRCA (Hornby Railway Collectors Association) held their yearly meeting at my place/garden. Maybe you will find the meeting report with photo's of interest:

I love British style trains and seeing them in the outdoors is icing on the cake for me.

The hardest part is finding them stateside, followed by affording them! I have my eye on a beater BL mogul to restore. Need to find a stateside source of crimson red in a spray can. Rather restore into that color over a black LMS scheme. I assume someone in the UK makes replacement decals or transfers to replace the letters and numbers. MIke

Mike,
Wessex transfers (of Australia) make Hornby and Bassett Lowke replacement transfers:

Thanks Fred, I havent decided to go whole hog yet on this one, its a bit ratty, but does have what appears to be an aftermarket meths burner with tank in the tender to replace the vaporizing burner. I also have my eye on a nice clockwork Duke of York thats in way better condition. Mike
Made a hobby shop run to Indianapolis today with my friend, picked up 2 Marx tinplate Warren truss bridges, a long one and a short one for $10 each, and 2 Matchbox models of Yesteryear UK early Lorries to put on the future layout. I also just bought a super clean BL Duke of York clockwork engine. I then put my last remaining non live steam G scale engine, a LGB 2080d Harz 2-6-2 that has onboard battery/RC installed on ebay, once it sells I will get the live steam mogul if not sooner. I am looking for 2 rail tinplate track now. Mike
