Light rail imitates hobby | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Perusing my latest Progressive Railroading magazine, an advertisement by Irwin Transportation highlighted their light rail track switch machines. What caught my attention was it uses a simple magnetic coil to move the points, not unlike our Atlas, Lionel O-22 and others, snap switch coil mechanisms. Simple and reliable. So 1:1 RR life takes a page from our modeling. This Irwin switch machine may be old news but made me smile never the less.

That's interesting. I wonder how they'll hold up with lots of use.
