For a long time, someone was selling lighted drumheads on the Bay for almost every road you could imagine, and even some fictional ones. I don't see them anymore. Anyone know who he is and if he still does them?

The eBay store was Dans-Drumheads-N-More. Looks like it is no longer around. Shame. He had a nice selection. Another source is Tomar industries.

I googled Dans-Drumheads-N-More and he does have a website, but it refers you to his eBay store. I emailed him to see if he is still making them. I'll keep you posted.
Tomar looks like a good alternative, but a bit pricier, and in kit form. Sounds like they may be a bit more robust.

Steve,
here he is-name change-Dan's L.E.D.epot and his eBay store. Looks like you'll have to contact him for the specific roadname.
I liked his PE drumhead. A little big, but still looked good.
Size for me is Ok, I'm looking to use them on Std Gauge.

I have a number of Dan's Drumheads. I received an email from him about two years ago that he was no longer making drumheads and concentrating on his other LED items. Let us know if you find out he has returned to making them.
I had worked with O-scale drumheads from Tomar Industries.
I have installed some of these drumheads too, but the bright spot from the bulb ruins the effect.
I bought some of his drumheads and I hope you can still get them its been many years since I got mine

Well IF you line the inside with aluminum foil, the center bright spot effect will diminish. Another consideration is to use those SMD LEd's.
Here is My daughter's P.E. Obs with a Dan's Drumhead. YEs I did Line the plastic drum with Aluminum foil.
Below is the OEM Drumhead.
I have used many Tomar Drumheads and have been able to buy individual pieces as well as kit form.

One of the smallest LED's I've ever seen. There has to be a way to diffuse the light, or re-position the LED.
LED is between the red and blue wire. Also pictured is the DC bridge rectifier power supply. Track power to DC.
Here is Dan's response.
Nuts! He carried drumheads that Tomar does not.
To diffuse the light from a chip LED, try a layer of plain 20# white paper in front of it. Does a great job in spreading the light.
Tomar is the place...Just ordered The Blue Comet Drum head as well as the Santa Fe Superchief...
Surprisingly they do not carry Polar Express but they have a Santa Claus face logo drum head that could be used for a Christmas theme
Drumheads would be easy to make with a color inkjet printer with clear acetate ( for logos without white) and white acetate for logos with white. Like custom decals. I'd cut them with a large punch or better with a Silhouette that is synched with the inkjet printer.
the drumhead housing would be 3D printed or laser cut.

Easy for someone with a 3D printer...
