I’m working on a Lionel Legacy 6-11150 ten wheeler with Odyssey speed control and have some questions about ERR products. Right now when power is applied with or without TMCC connected, the engine moves slightly, stops, moves slightly again and so on inching forward.  This even happens when it is switched to Program. I’m suspicious of the Odyssey cruise circuit.

The engine features a wireless tether and I’m wondering how the ERR Cruise Commander would function with this feature.  The RailSounds in the tender works perfectly when a new ERR R4LC replaces the original Lionel R4LC in the engine.  Unfortunately the engine doesn’t move, program, or respond at all other than the sounds and coupler on the tender.

I bypassed the electronics and connected the motor directly to a DC power supply and the motor and drive ran beautifully.  If I replace the Lionel electronics with either the Commander or the Commander M, how do I get it to work with the tender RailSounds and the LED wireless tether?  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! This has early Legacy. My experience with Legacy R4LCs will behave as a TMCC R4LC if the TMCC feature code is applied at programming. ie, AUX1 4. No guarantees but you might get by with simply replacing the DCDS with an ERR Cruise M. Might be an issue with synchronized smoke though.

Symptoms require further investigation.
