Lionel 153IR Controller | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

I have a set of Lionel scale crossing gates and I have one of the 153IR controllers. I would like to be able to run the trains in both directions and so I would like the gates to be appropriately triggered irrespective of the direction from which the train originates. Can the Lionel 153IR controllers be used in pairs, so this way the gates are triggered if the train comes from either direction? Thank you in advance.

why not wire them w/ an insulated track section?

These don't work with an insulated track section. My MTH flashers do, and those are wired accordingly.

They can be used in pairs, or more than two.

Just wire them in parrallel.

I use a pair on my layout to activate crossing signals at 3 separate crossings.
