Hello all. My banana jack or plug? Not sure what the correct name is. Is loose and comes out easy. It's the connection between the tender and AC motor. It seems as though the male is smaller than the female connection (no pun intended). I looked for parts on ebay, no luck... Does anyone have the correct name or part number? Many thanks!

I ran it recently at my clubs layout and double headed it with a 1990 1-700e, check it out

Per Olsen's CD, the part is called "Banana Plug Assembly", PN 700-32T. Does not say for what year.

Below is pic of a Banana Plug. Note in the red circle there are "fins" (my term) that are bent away from the central shaft - these fins make contact with and hold the Banana Plug into the socket. If your 700E's fins are compressed down to the central shaft, you can sometimes use a fine small screwdriver, dental pic, x-acto knife tip, etc. to GENTLY pry and reform the fins away from the central shaft, restoring a tight contact.

Up through 1939 Lionel used a solid round hole and the pin was split into four pieces to provide the spring to hold it in place and make electrical contact. The pins were very fragile and often have one or more of the quarter round parts bent or broken off. In 1940 Lionel changed the design to a protruding socket that was split into quarters to provide the necessary clamping on the pin. The pin became solid. This design lasted up through all US production. As the pre 1940 pins failed they were often replaced with the new solid pin. When the solid pin is used with the solid round receptacle there is no spring to keep the pin in place or promote electrical conductivity. I am not aware of a suitable replacement for the pre 1940 pin or of a source of originals.
