I am trying to determine what the original Lionel 2523W Santa Fe Super "O" Freight Set that Lionel made in 1958 contained. I believe it included: the No. 2383 Santa Fe F-3 AA Diesels, the No. 264 Operating Forklift Set, the No. 3662 Operating Milk Car Set, the No. 6800 Yellow over Black Airplane Car, the No. 6434 Illuminated Poultry Car and the No. 6517 Illuminated Bay Window Caboose. Can anyone confirm and provide a reference? Thanks.

"Lionel Trains" of 1955-59 also lists the 6264 lumber car.
You are correct that the set included the items you referenced.
You can confirm this info in "Greenberg's Guide to Lionel Trains, vol. 2, 1945-1969," page 11.
EDIT: According to the source I referenced, the set also included: "twelve 31s, three 32's, 48, 39-20" quoting from the source. I don't know what those refer to. And there is no reference in this source re the lumber car cited in the previous post.

Lionel A Collectors Guide & History Tom McComas & James Tuoghy sate on page 171 that set 2523 did in fact contain Lumber Car 6264 as well as the others mentioned above. Why include the fork lift loader without the car?

Greenberg isn't technically wrong since the 264 accessory included the 6264 flat car with lumber according to the T&M price guide I checked on the 264. What appeared to be conflicting info really is not.

Here is another source to confirm :
'Collectors Guide to Postwar Lionel Trains 1945-1969 by David Doyle'.

Hope this helps.

Thanks. I was able to assemble the set and provide the photos to show. The lumber car is included in the forklift set box, answering that small mystery. I am not a TCA member or experienced grader. The "A" unit runs fine. Based on these photographs, where do you see this set on an overall basis.

As someone asked above, the 31, 32, 48 and 39-20 are the various components of Super O track which included the special components needed for uncoupling the cars and for unloading the operating milk car.
If you are trying to recreate the COMPLETE original set contents, that track is needed as well as the instruction book and tube of lubricant which also came with the set.
