I had to dig out an old pair of 260's for use in our community layout this year. The springs are non-existant.
Can these be opened up by drilling the fasteners on the bottom & replace the spring, or am I better off with opening them up, cutting up an ergo floor mat and replacing the broken spring with the squishy mat stuff? I need them for a bump & go trolley and would like to prevent whiplash to the O scale riders....

Thanks

Roger

Roger;

Can’t exactly address your question, but if you can’t repair your 260’s, I have a never used pair of black 6-2282’s I’d be happy to donate. I’ve had them for years, but when I finally got around to building my layout, I used Fastrack, so these are just collecting dust. Interestingly, the box says copyright 1983 Fundimensions - there is a name to conjure with!!! It also says Made in Hong Kong. If you’re interested, send me an address and I’ll ship them out during the week.

You can pry the rivets that hold the fiberboard underneath gently out giving you total access to the inside. I did it on quite a few of mine to adjust the copper contacts inside. Take your time and don’t twist them side to side. Them tap them back into place. If they don’t stay, a little crazy glue works.

Hey Paul, those bumpers arrived last week. The entire Historical Society appreciates you mailing him a donating to us. Thanks a lot.
