I'm interested in a Lionel 6-82268 Legacy Steam Engine. I have 048 curved track on my layout now, but it says 054 minimum curve. I thought I saw some where else 031 minimum curve. Could I get by with 048 curved. I really like this Steam Engine. Is that just a misprint, or would that engine be too big for my 048 curves?

I have one, but my minimum curve is O-72. Typically engines this small can navigate O-31, as you say. I wonder if it has anything to do with the IR communication from tender to locomotive.
I don't know. Does anyone have these engines operating on a 0-48 curve or smaller?
I have the C&O version of this engine and it runs fine on the O-36 Fastrack floor layout I took to my daughter's school.
I have run many engines with a 054 minimum on 048. Backing through a switch is some times an issue.
I run mine on 036 Atlas track with no issues!
I have the same C&O that Allan mentions, and it runs just fine on O36 Fastrack. From the manual for the 10-wheeler... Minimum curve: O-31. I suspect you'll be fine.
From the Lionel website for your locomotive: Min Curve: O-42 / O-54 Recommended
Don't you believe them?
I searched for the manual for your locomotive, Legacy 4-6-0 Ten Wheeler, it states O31 on page 6.
I have to wonder where you're seeing the requirements for O54?
I run my SP 4-6-0 on O36 all day long, forwards and backwards, empty and pulling long trains. You'll be golden with O48.
And she's one heck of a puller too. She out pulled my VL BB on a ridiculous grade on Atlas track.
John, I saw it on trainworld website. When you click on the engine #82268 and scroll down it says minimum curve is 0-54.
I suggest that the folks at Trainworld don't understand cut-n-paste when they're creating their listings.
John, I checked two other web sites, and they're showing the same thing. You would think Lionel would correct this information. Other wise, thanks for the help guys, I put in the order today.
I forgot I made this video some years ago......the 4-6-0 is operating on my inner O45" Atlas loop.
No problem whatsoever!
Peter
Since the new ten-wheeler has the same frame as my older Legacy version, I can assure you that the O54 specification is mistaken.
I have both the old and the new versions of the NYC (827 & 1258) and I can confirm that they run on O31 curves.

The video looks good. Thanks for showing it and thanks for everyone's imput.
