I have a Lionel U30-C Chessie (6-18292) Odyssey System, Command Equipped, RailSounds that will not move. Programmed it with the Cab 2, the horn blew and everything seemed fine. When I put it in run mode all functions work (lights, horn, sounds) but the engine would not move. Any suggestion on how to resolve or where I can get it serviced?

Thanks,

Craig

You might try doing a TMCC Reset sequence as described in the instructions for your engine on page 16. Website to get manual, if you don't have it, is:

I have recovered some sound operations by doing the reset of several TMCC engines, but I don't remember having an engine that didn't move and then fixed with the TMCC Reset - but worth a try.

If you haven't already done so, just check around the wheels and any gears you can see that nothing is jammed into them preventing them from turning.

It may be in PROG mode even though the switch is in RUN (if a wire came off).  Try this test.  Turn all power off.  Unplug power to your Legacy Base so there is no Legacy or TMCC signal on the layout. Now power up the track with your U30C and see if it will move using transformer power only.  If it does not move then here are some threads that may be helpful.  I was in your shoes 12 years ago just starting out with this same model locomotive.

A few have reported success by disconnecting and reconnecting the molex (black 6 pin) connector on the DCDR board.  They are kind of tough to pull plus there is a release you need to depress also.  It’s worth a try because that board is no longer available from Lionel.  If you can’t locate a board ERR is an option for this loco.
