Could someone please enlighten me on the interesting story behind this car? I know there are variations, could have been Lionel Corp's Last product...or is it MPC's first product? Designed by Ward Kimball. Disney permitted this without a license? Would appreciate if someone could help me smooth out my bits and pieces of a story. Finally its just a nice looking car. You don't get classic simple Disney often these days.

Interesting car. It has the completely removed rivet rows and MPC logo... metal door guides and Post War trucks. What kind of brake wheel?

There is a brief article on the car in the April 1971 TCA Quarterly. Mentions the artwork being submitted to Disney for approval. TCA members can access all the Quarterly magazines online.
Jon, The brakewheel is the MPC delrin. Ed, Also just located the 1971 TCQ from the Archives. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like the 1971 Anaheim Convention was a good one...that table of convention gifts would be the envy of any classic Disney and Toy Train Fan. With Ward Kimball on the scene as well.
